Of course! The 'haves' always dictate to the 'have nots' what they may or may not do - or have the living daylights bombed out of them. The Russians are doing the right thing by getting stuck in and showing them the way. This is what the west should be doing, not behaving like ill-bred bullies. Yes, I know. That's an oxymoron, but it's the barb that makes the hoot stick.

One of thefundamental flaws of the concept of non-proliferation, it seems to me, is that it fails to avoid the impression that it's a bunch of 'haves' telling 'have nots' that they can't have. What makes this particularly odious is the high moral ground the 'haves' adopt, as I infer from what yoiu say, Art: we're 'responsible' and would never use nuclear weapons irresponsibly (whatever that may mean), but we assume the right to deem who would and wouldn't be 'responsible' The hypoccrisy of the West is unbelievable. Having foisted industrialisation on an unsuspecting world, becoming major contributors to global warming as a result and still unwilling to recognise they have to do something anout it sharpish, they're tut-tutting about pollution in developing nations. It's nothing short of breath-taking - and ultimately fatal - arrogance.

Art, you're an iconoclast! And good for you too. We've just had an election here that's stirred the possum something shocking. Neither of the Big Two - Tweedledum and Tweedledummer - can govern in their own right. For the first time they're going to have to negotiate the Lower House with three independent conservatives (who hate the Liberal National Party Opposition with a vengeance) and the very first Green to be elected to Reps. The Senate looks like it will have nine Greens, which means they've got the balance of power there. If they can restrain the crazier of their ideas and stop looking for white rabbits and red herrings, we're headed for interesting times. And lots of icons burning!

It is certainly surreal. On that we can agree. As to its beauty, that is in the eye of the beholder. Nevertheless, the point I was making was its high economic inefficiency.

Oh, how you make me laugh! You state that the turbines cause ugliness to the landscape. Have you seen the Tehachapi Wind Farm in California? It is both surreal and beautiful. Just a thought.

A comparison can be made to the business on the opposite side of the condos, "Harbourlight Delights" and the hotdog counter where they have lasted many years. Lower rent, lower taxes, lower equipment investment, simpler offerings, non-specialized staff seem to add up to success. There's no parking there either.
Maybe the Peech's space could be a successful coffee shop now. It seems to meet the comparison features above. Maybe a Starbucks, or for heavens sake a Tim Hortons.

The items stated will in fact be an effect to any business success however, after 45 years in the same business myself, your success is dependant on supplying what the customer wants at a "fair" price - not forcing people to buy what you want to carry at extremely high prices. Not everyone will buy imported or organic etc at high prices in place of everyday labels at affordable prices.

A fair enough observation with which I agree. However, the word is that Bill Patchett and Dick Jefferies too, both experienced supermarket operators, thought the enterprise was doomed from the start for lack of traffic.
